StyleMeMama ("we," "us," or "our") is a personal styling tool that helps you understand your color season, Kibbe type, and proportions so you can shop and get dressed with more confidence. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, email us at [email protected].
What we collect
We only collect what we need to run the service:
- Account info. Your email address and name, provided through our authentication provider when you sign up or sign in.
- Profile info. Your birthday (for age verification), city (to personalize weather-aware outfit suggestions), and gender (to personalize results).
- Photos you upload. Face photos you submit for analysis. These are stored privately with our cloud storage provider and associated only with your account.
- Wardrobe photos. Photos of garments, outfits, and care or size tags you add to your closet. These are stored privately with our cloud storage provider, encrypted in transit, served only through signed, short-lived links tied to your account, and never shown to other users.
- Analysis results. The color season, Kibbe type, face shape, and related guidance generated from your uploads.
- Billing info. If you subscribe, our payment processor handles your payment details. We never see or store full card numbers — we only keep subscription status and a customer reference.
- Basic usage data. Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, timestamps) used to keep the service running and secure.
How we use your information
- To generate your style profile — your color season, Kibbe image identity, face shape, and body shape — and use it to personalize lookbook recommendations and the fit-check tool.
- To show you your past results and personalized guidance.
- To process purchases and send receipts.
- To keep accounts secure and prevent abuse.
- To respond when you email us for support.
- To send you occasional emails about StyleMeMama — things like new features, styling tips, and offers. Every one includes an unsubscribe link, and opting out never affects your account or purchases.
How photos are analyzed
When you request an analysis, we first run our own processing on the photo on our servers, then send it (and, where relevant, derived images) to a third-party AI provider so the model can return a color season, Kibbe type, or face shape result. The provider processes the image on our behalf to return that result and does not receive your name, email, or account identifiers. We may change AI providers in the future for the same purpose; if we do, we will update this policy.
Our results are AI-generated and informational only. They are not a substitute for professional advice. If you would like a human to review a result you believe is wrong, email [email protected] and we will take a look.
You can delete an uploaded photo any time by removing it from your account or by asking us to delete it.
Gmail order import (optional)
If you choose to connect your Gmail account, we request read-only access (the Google gmail.readonly scope) solely to locate clothing purchase receipts and extract order details — the retailer, order number and date, and line items (item name, price, size, color, and product image). We never modify, send, or delete your mail.
We do not store your emails themselves; only these extracted order details are saved, and only items you approve are added to your wardrobe. Your Gmail access token is encrypted at rest. You can disconnect Gmail at any time in settings, which revokes our access with Google and deletes the Gmail connection; deleting your account deletes all Gmail-derived data.
StyleMeMama's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Email content is parsed entirely by deterministic (non-AI) code on our servers — Gmail data is never sent to any AI or machine-learning model. We do not use Google user data to develop, improve, or train generalized (non-personalized) AI or machine learning models, and we do not transfer it to AI/ML tools of any kind.
Biometric information
Although our analyses look at your face in photos you upload, we do not create or store biometric identifiers — we do not generate face templates, faceprints, or other mathematical representations that could be used to recognize you across photos or services. The only things kept after an analysis are the photo itself (private to your account) and the categorical result (for example, "Soft Autumn"). If we ever change this, we will tell you and obtain consent first, as required by Washington's biometric privacy law (RCW 19.375), Illinois' BIPA, and similar statutes.
Who we share data with
We rely on a small set of vendors to run the service. They only receive what they need to do their job:
- An authentication provider — account sign-up and sign-in.
- A payment processor — subscription payments and billing.
- A cloud storage provider — private storage for uploaded photos.
- A third-party AI provider — analysis of submitted photos.
- A hosting and database provider — application hosting and data storage.
- An email delivery provider — for contact-form and brand-request messages.
- An email marketing platform — newsletter signups and the marketing emails described above.
We may also create and use aggregated or de-identified insights that cannot reasonably be used to identify you — for example, overall style and fit trends across our community — and may share those insights with partners. If we ever launch programs that involve sharing your individual information with a partner (for example, personalized brand recommendations), participation will be optional and we will ask for your permission first.
We may disclose information if required by law, to protect our users, or as part of a business transfer (for example, if the service is acquired). In that case we will let you know.
How long we keep your data
We keep your account, uploads, and analysis history for as long as you have an active account. When you delete your account, we remove your photos and personal data within 30 days, except for records we are legally required to keep (for example, billing records for tax purposes).
Your choices
- You can cancel a subscription any time — it stops at the end of the billing period.
- If you connected Gmail, you can disconnect it any time in settings — this revokes our access with Google and deletes the connection.
- You can opt out of marketing and update emails any time using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of them. You will still receive transactional emails, like receipts and important account notices.
- You can delete your account at any time. In the iOS app, go to Account → Delete account; this permanently removes your profile, closet, and analyses. You can also request full account deletion by emailing [email protected].
- Depending on where you live (for example, the EU, UK, or California), you may have additional rights to access, correct, export, or restrict the use of your data. Email us and we will help.
Security
Photos are stored in a private cloud storage bucket and served only through signed, short-lived URLs tied to your account. Traffic is encrypted in transit. No online service is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable care to protect what you share with us.
If we discover a security breach that affects your personal data, we will notify you without undue delay and within any timeframes required by law.
Your California privacy rights
If you live in California, the CCPA/CPRA gives you the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete it, to correct it, and to limit our use of sensitive personal information. We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected] with the subject "California Privacy Request" and we will respond within the timeframe required by law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
Your EU / UK rights
If you live in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have rights under the GDPR to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, or object to our processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent at any time. We rely on the following legal bases: your consent for AI analysis of photos you upload, performance of a contract for your account and purchases, and our legitimate interests in keeping the Service secure and improving it. Where we transfer data to providers in the United States, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Children
StyleMeMama is intended for adults. You must be at least 18 to create an account, and we confirm this at signup. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, email [email protected] and we will remove it.
Affiliate links
Some of the products in our lookbook are linked through affiliate programs, which means we may earn a small commission if you click through and make a purchase. It costs you nothing extra, and it helps keep the lookbook free for everyone to browse. Affiliate relationships never influence which pieces we recommend — those come from your color season, Kibbe type, and proportions, not from who pays the highest commission.
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies, primarily to keep you signed in and to remember basic preferences.
Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes, we will update the "last updated" date above and, when appropriate, notify you by email.
